బ్యాటింగ్లో వేగం తగ్గినా వికెట్ కీపింగ్ విషయంలో మాత్రం ధోని వేగంలో పెద్ద మార్పేమీ కనిపించడం లేదు. కళ్లు చెదిరే క్యాచ్లు, స్టంపింగ్లతో అతను తన ప్రత్యేకతను చాటుకుంటూనే ఉన్నాడు. ఆసియా కప్ ఫైనల్లోనూ ధోని తన వేగాన్ని చూపించాడు. సెంచరీతో బంగ్లాదేశ్ ఇన్నింగ్స్ను నిలబెట్టిన లిటన్ దాస్.. ధోని మెరుపు స్టంపింగ్తోనే వెనుదిరిగాడు. కుల్దీప్ బంతిని కొంచెం ముందుకొచ్చి ఆడబోయాడు లిటన్. బంతి అతడికి చిక్కలేదు. లిటన్ వెంటనే వెనక్కి వెళ్లి క్రీజులో కాలు పెట్టే ప్రయత్నం చేశాడు. ఐతే ధోని బంతి ఇలా అందుకున్నాడో లేదో.. అలా వికెట్లను కొట్టేశాడు. రీప్లేను చాలాసేపు పరిశీలించిన మూడో అంపైర్.. చివరికి అతను ఔటని తేల్చాడు. చాలా కొద్ది తేడాలో లిటన్ నాటౌట్గా నిలిచే అవకాశాన్ని కోల్పోయాడు. తర్వాత మొర్తజాను కూడా ధోని స్టంపౌట్ చేశాడు.

అంతర్జాతీయ క్రికెట్లో ధోని మరో మైలురాయిని అందుకున్నాడు. ఆసియాకప్ ఫైనల్లో కుల్దీప్ బౌలింగ్లో మొర్తజాను స్టంపౌట్ చేయడం ద్వారా 800 ఔట్లలో పాలుపంచుకున్న తొలి ఆసియా వికెట్ కీపర్గా ధోని ఘనత సాధించాడు. మొత్తంగా టెస్టులు, వన్డేలు, టీ20లు కలిపి అత్యధిక ఔట్లలో పాలుపంచుకున్న వికెట్ కీపర్గా మార్క్ బౌచర్ (998), గిల్క్రిస్ట్ (905) తర్వాత మూడో స్థానంలో ఉన్నాడు. అంతే కాదు అంతర్జాతీయ క్రికెట్లో అత్యధిక స్టంపౌట్లు చేసిన వికెట్కీపర్ (184)గా తన ఆధిక్యతను మరింత పెంచుకున్నాడు. సంగక్కర (139), కలువితరణ (101) రెండు, మూడో స్థానాల్లో ఉన్నారు.

India vs Bangladesh Asia Cup 2018 Final highlights: Predicting a winner became an impossible task after a certain point in this match. Just as Bangladesh started looking down and out, they struck back with a wicket. Similarly, just as it looked Bangladesh were in the ascendancy, India would strike back with a partnership. In the end, it was a limping Kedar Jadhav who calmly took a single off the very last ball of the match and won the title for India. It was a leg bye, but you won’t find a single member of the Indian dressing room who would mind that.

An incredible century that was very much the foundation of Bangladesh's challenge this evening. It is one of those rare moments when a player from the losing team is man of the match but there is little argument about it.

"Yes, we played with our heart. We played till the last ball, but we did mistakes with both bat and ball. If you look at our bowling, everytime we score more than 240 we win the matches. That's what we asked from the batsmen. But in the end, the bowlers did a really good job. The way India were scoring, it was important to bowl Mustafizur in the 49th, because they were scoring every ball. So couldn't introduce a spinner at that stage."

"Really enjoyed this tournament. Fantastic final, and really good tournament for myself. Enjoyed my batting and want to continue this way. England tour has helped me become mature, and I was playing more balanced in this tournament. Want to remain consistent. Helps to have Rohit as the partner. His consistency at the top matters for me as well. He plays the aggressor's role, sometimes I do. And he too had a great Asia Cup."

Bangladesh did everything to be holders of a multi-nation trophy, having failed to cross the line in the same tournament twice before in the last six years. They were also testing the Indian nerves in another final after the one they played in the T20I tri-series in Sri Lanka in March this year.
Virat Kohli's emergence as an unparalleled second-innings player has got the Indian team obsessing with the idea of chasing. The romps earlier in the tournament had set the template and Rohit had no hesitation in sending Bangladesh in after winning the toss. Probably, Kohli's absence and the middle-order devoid of confidence, including a rusty Dhoni, weren't thought to be serious enough factors while taking that decision on Friday.

For now, the team management has to revisit their policy with Jadeja.
